Market commentary
Despite hitting new record highs multiple times in October, the S&P/ASX 200 Accumulation Index ended the
month in negative territory, falling -1.3%. Shares declined towards month-end as the likelihood of an imminent
rate cut faded after data revealed underlying annual inflation of +3.5% to the end of September, still above
the Reserve Bank of Australia's target range of 2-3%.
Australian banks continued their stellar run in defiance of fundamental valuations. The finacial sector gained
+3.3% in October and is up more than +45% over the past 12 months.
